Confirmation
Confirmation is received only after the other sacraments have been received (Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Communion). Once the decision to be confirmed has been made, this sacrament is received usually in 8th grade, or high school. Confirmation completes a child’s Catholic Religious Education and sacramental initiation into the Catholic Church. We encourage all students to complete their religious studies by continuing all the way through to the 8th grade. A Confirmation Sponsor will need to be chosen to complete the confirmation requirements.
Confirmation Sponsor Guidelines
- Sponsor must be chosen by the one to be baptized, by the parents or the person who takes their place, or in their absence by the pastor or minister.
- Sponsor must be at least 16 years old, or the pastor or minister has granted an exception for a just cause.
- Sponsor must be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the sacrament of the Eucharist and who leads a life of faith.
- Sponsor may not be the father or mother of the one to be baptized.
